What it’s Like at Columbia Climate School in the Green Mountains
From June 27 to July 9, 2021, Columbia welcomed their first-ever cohort of students into the Columbia Climate School in the Green Mountains program. The program welcomed 80 high-school students from around the United States to the Castleton University campus in Castleton, Vermont. The students participated in a two-week program to mobilize action, drive impact, and affect change in response to our warming planet. Photos also by me.

The Summer Ecosystem Experiences for Undergraduates (SEE-U) program is an intensive course at Columbia that gives students a chance to get outside the city and all over the world to study ecosystems and agriculture, earn science credits, and get fieldwork experience under their belts. In East Harlem, Community Gardens Provide More Than Food
Community gardens have long been a part of New York City’s alternative spaces. But many of us may take the gardens for granted, unaware of their rich history and of the vast benefits they bring to our communities and the city as a whole. Walking by a community garden in your neighborhood and peeking through the gate, you may recognize it as a green space but not understand it as an anchoring presence in your community.

Beto O’Rourke Discusses Climate Change on Columbia Campus
Former congressman Beto O’Rourke visited the Columbia University campus on Monday, February 4th, 2019, for a Town Hall with Columbia College students. O’Rourke, a CC alumnus (class of ’95), addressed students’ questions ranging from a wall at the Mexican border and relations with Israel, to climate change.
